CINDY KENNEY grew up in the Chicago area. At the age of 5 she knew she wanted to be a writer as she ran home after her writing her first "story" which her mom saved to this day. A writing career didn't come easy to Cindy. As she worked three jobs while putting herself through college, she wrote several novels. During that time she felt she was destined to write the "Great American Novel" but God had other plans. She fell in love and was married at the age of 28 to a wonderful man named Jim. God blessed Cindy and Jim with a beautiful boy they named Andy a year later. Used to being a hard worker, Cindy chose to begin working a part-time job three months after his birth. She saw an ad for a Christian Education Director and decided to give that a try. Little did she know how much she would love working in this position. While working for three different churches, she began writing curriculum, plays, summer programs, and other materials.  While working for churches, Cindy began to speak at various teacher training seminars as church leaders took notice of her innovative ideas and ways of working with children. During that time, Cindy gave birth to another wonderful boy, named Jimmy. After all her years of trying to get published, Cindy had set that aside at last, happy to be working in the job she had and being a wife and mother.

One day, an interim pastor came through and noticed the curriculum Cindy had written. He asked if he could take it with him. Two weeks later, Cindy received a call from Augsburg Fortress Publishers asking her to write their VBS. This job opened up a flood gate of opportunity and a brand new career in publishing! In 1994, Cindy was asked to be the head writer for a brand new curriculum program for VeggieTales. The following year, Big Idea hired her as their full-time Senior Managing Editor, where she began to build Big Idea's publishing plan that included curriculum, activity and reading books for children and families. While at Big idea, Cindy won a Gold Medallion and was nominated for another one in 2004, and the 2005 Editor of the Year award. Cindy continued to speak, and it wasn't long before she gained international attention. cindy has spoken around the United States and Canada at numerous writer's conferences and education events. In 2006, Cindy was invited to work as the Publishing Director for Exclaim Entertainment to help them kick off their publishing plans in curriculum and books. During Cindy's writer's career, she has published over 60 of her own books, 8 curriculum programs, music, numerous articles, scripts, marketing anad other materials. She has written for children, adults, and teachers.

Lately... Cindy is excited about her upcoming books with: Precious Moments Tyndale Publishers Exclaim Entertainment/Zondervan   Cindy is also excited about working on several new book endeavors in addition to launching her new business web sites coming winter 2010!
